Joan grew up on a ranch in Texas. Her family has had a long history of clairvoyance. Her closeness to nature and by possessing a keen and  intelligent mind (her father was an MIT engineer and she has studied quantum physics), have enhanced her talents and allowed her to tap into both the metaphysical (spirit) and physical world like no other individual in her field. As a third generation clairvoyant, Joan's talent runs in her  family to perceive the “unseen”. Her Grandmother taught her Mother to read palms and tealeaves, and her mother in turn taught Joan. One of the exercises she had to  practice involved clearing our minds and visualizing a blank screen... watching, as a casual observer, the scenes that came across. Through this practice, Joan has been able to focus on the subject of she reading and gain great insights as to the forces involved in their situation.

As a child, Joan was taught to connect with the subconscious mind in a variety of ways. This included the pendulum meditation, also used as a means of divination and dream interpretation. Every morning, at breakfast, she was asked what she had dreamt the night before. She  was then guided to understand the symbology that the subconscious mind used to express itself to our conscious mind. This is quite helpful, as she has found that when one is in tune with the subconscious one gains insight into things that the conscious mind does not always perceive, as its purpose is to focus on the material world.

At the age of 16, Joan found herself strongly drawn to the Tarot Cards. Over the years, she has found the Tarot to be a great medium to connect with she clients and gain further insights as to what was and could be happening in their lives.
